Author - Wesley Chu




Wesley Chu is an award-winning science fiction author. Born in Taiwan, he immigrated to the United States when he was young and was raised in the fields of Nebraska before settling in Chicago, Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois and received a degree in Information Systems and worked in consulting, insurance and banking industries for many years before he transitioned to writing full time. Chu is also an accomplished martial artist and has acted in film, television, and has worked as a model and stuntman.


Chu has published seven books. He won the 2015 John W. Campbell Best New Writer Award. His debut novel, The Lives of Tao, earned him the Alex Award by the Young Adult Library Services Association and was selected by Goodreads as a Science Fiction Choice Award Finalist. Chu's Time Salvager has been optioned to be a movie by Paramount with Michael Bay attached as director.


Theatre Artist - H. Russ Brown


H. Russ Brown is a nationally recognized theatre artist who has worked at theatres across the country for the past 30 years, primarily in his main area of expertise: the theatrical art of Stage Combat.


A Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors, H. Russ has choreographed violence for over 100 productions and his fight work has been seen on stages from New York to California and back again. He has also choreographed and performed violence via motion capture for video games, with his most recent work being the Johnny Gat double-knife work in Saints Row: Gat Out Of Hell.


An avid fan of comic books since the days when they cost only 10 cents each, H. Russ is a frequent guest artist at stage combat workshops across the country, where his Captain America’s Mighty Shield: Fist vs. Shield class is in high demand.


H. Russ holds a Master of Fine Arts in acting from Western Illinois University and is currently serving as Head of Theatre/Artistic Director at College of the Mainland in Texas City, TX.


His greatest source of pride, however, is his incredible wife, Elizabeth, and his amazing kids, Grant and Auben.

Fan - Sheril Harper


Sheril Harper is a Registered Nurse. She is active in Des Moines Science Fiction Society, Trans Iowa Canal Company, International Costumers Guild, Saint Louis Costumers Guild and ICON.


Toastmaster - Jim C. Hines


Jim C. Hines' first novel was Goblin Quest, the humorous tale of a nearsighted goblin runt and his pet fire-spider. Actor and author Wil Wheaton described the book as “too f***ing cool for words,” which is pretty much the Best Blurb Ever. After finishing the goblin trilogy, he went on to write the Princess series of fairy tale retellings and the Magic ex Libris books, a modern-day fantasy series about a magic-wielding librarian, a dryad, a secret society founded by Johannes Gutenberg, a flaming spider, and an enchanted convertible. He's also the author of the Fable Legends tie-in Blood of Heroes.


His short fiction has appeared in more than 50 magazines and anthologies. Jim is an active blogger about topics ranging from sexism and harassment to zombie-themed Christmas carols, and won the Hugo Award for Best Fan Writer in 2012. He has an undergraduate degree in psychology and a Masters in English, and lives with his wife and two children in mid-Michigan. You can find him online at

Joe is an American science fiction author. He is best known for his 1974 novel The Forever War.

He has been a published author since 1969; his first short story was published in Galaxy Magazine.
